Great write up, Claire Lew. This problem manifests itself more in the first time leaders. They inadvertently treat leadership as a likeability sport — constantly falling in trap of being likeable rather than being respected.
John Quincy Adams said — “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader”. Some of it isn’t possible if you trapped in the “being nice” syndrome.
