When I mentioned “he is in the mood” — I wasn’t talking about hitting a creative block once in a while. We all have those creative block moments.
I was talking about the fixed mindset of some designers. They feel that work can only be accomplished when the creative muse is going to hit them and planning for creative pursuits is pointless.
Let that sink in for a second — Can you imagine Sir Johnny Ive telling Steve Jobs to check back with him umm…whenever it’s done for the next iPhone design. Probably not.
I feel putting some sort of creative constraints enable us to make progress everyday — no matter if the outcome turns out to be shitty.
The outcome isn’t in our hands but making progress sincerely towards solving users’s problem is.
And, that’s what I was alluding to. I apologize if I couldn’t articulate it correctly.
